Grace Baptist Church exists to bring honor and glory to God in Taylorville, IL, the surrounding area, and around the world. We seek to evangelize the lost with the sound teaching of Scripture about the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Anyone is welcome to visit us in our services, and we would love to get to know you and help you in your spiritual life. If you have any questions for us before you visit, please do not hesitate to call us or use the contact form at the bottom of this page. We hope to see you soon!
"And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." - John 6:35
Q: What should I expect as a first time visitor?
A: We strive to provide a friendly, welcoming environment at our church. We have some parking spots designated for guests. When you enter the front doors of the building we have a greeter in our foyer where they will give you a welcome packet and seek to answer any questions you may have about your visit.
Q: What do people wear to a worship service at Grace?
A: Our pastors, choir, and others wear coats and ties (men), as well as dresses and skirts (ladies). Many also wear what would be considered "business casual". Still others wear more casual clothing.
Q: What should I expect in the worship services at Grace?
A: We have what would be considered a traditional worship service with uplifting, soul-stirring hymns, choruses, special music, and Christ-centered, Bible preaching. We have a time each service where we take up our tithe and offering as a part of our worship. Our services generally last about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes.
"Don't forget that you don't have to go to church today. You GET to go to church today!"
Q: What happens after a service?
A: Typically after a service you will find that people will gather in the auditorium or in the foyer chatting and catching up with one another. This is a perfect time for you as a guest to get to know us as a church body. You may even find individuals praying, laughing, practicing special music, or just running to pick up their kids in junior church or youth group.
Q: Is Sunday School just for kids?
A: No. We have small group study classes for individuals in all stages of life. Our teens meet with the youth workers for Sunday School. Our college and career class is lead by Pastor McPhillips. We have a Home-builder's class, a singles ladies class, and several other adult classes. You are likely to find a class that is suited just for you!
Q: Are my children welcome at the services?
A: Yes! We would love to be able to get to know your whole family. We have a nursery for every service. We have Sunday School classes for all ages. We have Sunday morning "Junior Church" during the main worship service for children through 6th grade. On Wednesday night we have clubs for children and teens which you can find out more about here.
